I would say, that using TFR is more imersive, Since you have to manually program the channels into frequencies, Instead of a pre-setup radio being handed to you. It will be harder, i know. But it adds some extra immersion, In my oppinion.

ACRE gives the most realistic/immersive experience you can achieve, seeing as the  AN/PRC-148 and the AN/PRC-152 is fully programmable.

The AN/PRC-343 is also fully simulated but it doesn't really have alot to it since it's meant for use in sections.

ACRE has voice occolution ( example) and accurately reflects radio waves

ACRE is more in-depth and there is no good reason for us to switch to TFAR as it's a pretty casual mod.

Ninja edit:
ACRE also adds the option to have half-duplex which means only one person can talk at the time and some other handy features.

As a signaller, I am afraid you are wrong.

When you get a radio and it has been setup by a signaller, it is encrypted and has a pre-established plan and individual identity. You then literally choose the pre-set channel and boom!

This is because all the radio channels are pre established in a battle zone so that there is no cross talking.

The reason we use acre is because it is a simulation of radios and provides enhancements to direct chat with occlusion etc.

TFR is nothing more than a glorified mute/unmute with no audio processing or signal propagation

I just put some extra research into it, and i found out that ACRE is actually a lot better.

i dont think acre is sutiable for what we do tho and the way we use radio's.....tfar suits us better , hence the 900 problems a week with radio's currently....

i dont care if it suits british army or is british ...i want them to work and have a good operation ..

now i may be worng but ...

if in a company 6 - 8 command people ? are trying to talk on a single radio channel , that u CANT talk over people are u sayin we wont have issues hahaha ... thats why i prefer tfar and always have and will, it suits us better..

if acre was / is better then why has "break break break" in a british radio transmission been unable to do... becasue im sure chazza u said that this quote was used in the british army during transmissions to recieve an urgent message, and yet u cant talk over people so how do you manage that ? lol ...

In a company OP the platoon sergeants are on channel with the company command and 2ic, so 4 people on that channel. Platoon nets have 3 people with platoon command and section leaders. It's not as crowded as you make it out to be.

I think yesterdays Op (Kalingo) was a pretty good example of good radio discipline, at least on the Company net, especially considering we were 5 people on there who all had quite a lot to say. Despite that however we were able to get all transmissions through (by this I mean we didn't have people talking over each other, not the technical bugs and glitches).
Even with a pretty big net of 5 people it's possible to communicate if people maintain radio discipline, keep reports short, etc. etc.
