Hello,

This post outlines the basic British Army radio procedures (which are pretty easy to pick up and make in-game immersion better.

I shall start with the radio procedures and also add a number of other basic and useful things that everyone can read to standardise what we say, do and think on the public server.

British Army Radio Procedures:

BASIC RADIO EXAMPLE CONVERSATION
Station A0 (Alpha Zero / Alpha Actual) talking to C0 (Charlie Zero / Charlie Actual):
A0: C0, this is A0, message, over.
C0: C0, send, over.
A0: Have you got C10D Sunray at your location? over.
C0: Negative, I think he is with C30C, over.
A0: Roger, out.

The advantage of this sequence is that the recipient always knows who sent the message.

The downside is that the listener only knows the intended recipient from the context of the conversation. Requires moderate signal quality for the radio operator to keep track of the conversations.

However a broadcast message and response is fairly efficient.

Sunray (Lead) Charlie Charlie (Collective Call - everyone), this is Sunray. Radio check, over.
A0: Sunray, this is Alpha Actual, loud and clear, five by five over.
B0: Sunray, this is Bravo Actual, reading three by four. over.
D0: Sunray, this is Delta Actual, Say again. over.
Footloose-24 (Chinook): Sunray, this is Footloose 24, reading Five by Four over.
Sunray: Charlie Charlie this is Sunray, out.

The "Say again" response from Delta Actual tells Sunray that the radio signal is not good and possibly unreadable. Sunray can then re-initiate a Call onto D0 and start another R/C or instruct them to relocate, change settings, etc.

So it could carry on with:

Sunray: Delta Actual this is sunray, radio check over.
D0: Sunray this is Delta Actual, unclear, read you 2 by 3 over.
Sunray: Sunray copies, Relocate to Grid One Niner Zero Three Three Two for a better signal over.
D0: Delta Actual copies and is Oscar Mike, Delta Actual Out.

would this also be done for other units ie : americans , russians , sweed's ....because we use those units too.?

i only ask because of the range of peoples background , if some are sweedish military or whoever this could be a whole new task learning this , and also disrupt what they know naturally from their own experiences and knolege....

i would write exactly what you have done joe (nice work btw ), but also cover the other units .....once doing this i would then put them all side by side and come up with a universal "docterine" or at least the most common termanology used.

this is nice work tho joe defo mate , with the words and phrases i can say that i only know about 10 of them lol, now the question is , should i / we learn all of this ? or is there parts that could be changed or missed out ?

example :

uxb - unexploded bomb , i have never heard this short version and if i did i would proply think they said usb lol and prob sit there for ten mins wondering what it ment lol...

iff - identification friend or foe , is this not another word for P.I.D ? lol ...
