I was listening to radio 4 the other day and during one of the programs they were discussing the film kajaki .
This film is about a Company of Para's sent to defend Kajaki Dam, in Afghanistan During 2006. On this deployment there was a large incident where a catalogue of errors lead to a very grave situation. This was a massive learning point for the British Army and many lessons were learn't from the events that took place that day. So much so a major inquest was held and lead to eventual change of S.O.Ps in the British Army.
Additionally the interview on radio 4 went on to explain how the actors met the soldiers they were playing and also how some of the film was actually recorded in the same place the events took place which is especially impressive.
I don't want to give to much more away as it will spoil it for those of you who choose to watch it but it is proper edge of the seat stuff that made me really appreciate how quickly COIN operations used to go.
It is currently on Netflix so dont miss out.
