I had it on my mind from sometime now. TWC should begin to recognise the act of valour shown in the virtual battlefield. It'll add fun to the game and promote the lads to do in-game selfless acts they normally won't :3

P.S:- Just an opinion.

Have to try and you won't have to fail,
If you're afraid to fly then i guess you never will,
You hide behind your walls of maybe nevers,
Forgetting that there's something more than just knowing better,
Your mistakes do not define you now they tell you who you're not,
You've got to live this life you're given like it's the only one you've got,

I have talked about this to other people before and basically no, no medals in the traditional sense. Reason being that in reality you get shiny metal for putting your life on the line whereas ingame you at the very most ruin your own evening to save someone elses. Additionally they could encourage some really bad behaviour (like people trying to get the most kills which is not as good of a thing to do as one might think).

If anything one would reward 'awards' for outstanding performances such as helping new people, peoperly keeping formations together and generally going out of ones way to make the evening more enjoyable to other people. These are however no big single acts that stand out but rather should be small awards a section leader can give after the mission.

That being said I don't think the concept really 'fits' with our group ethos, why don't try to emulate the military as an institution hence why we don't have ranks etc. why should be have awards and orders? At most have them be little sidenotes on the forum profile like operation attendance or commendation by other etc.

I would support this. We could make a cool little section for it on the new website. Especially if the rewards are more "light hearted" and not of real awards. For example Crabb would get an Outstanding Tank Driver Ribbon for flipping his Challenger 2.

It could be a cool little way to keep track of special moments in operations.

Good Morning,

Forrest and I did speak about this in August of last year. Additionally many individuals also brought up their variations of it in the New Website suggestion post, located here: http://www.thewreckingcre ... opic/new-website-n3u

There are going to be four "award" systems.

The first system, and most important to me is the training qualifications - they're awards of sort. Similar to our current system. They're different in that the trainer awards them directly. It also notes when they were awarded it, as well as who by when hovered over. If it was awarded by a quiz, the latter will state that.

The second system is commendations. Every person who writes an AAR gets to give their commendation to an individual in the operation (or no-one, if they choose so) that they personally believe performed the best from their perspective. How you would like to judge that is entirely personal. A total count of these commendations is displayed below a persons avatar when posting. Currently there's no interaction with it - I'll look into displaying a log in a light-box if you were to click it. They do show who you awarded one to in your AAR.

The third system is special case awards that can be issued by a member of management, at any time. These are most probably going to be for noteworthy/humorous events.

The last system is not a release feature. At the end of each month there will be the chance to vote for an individual in each award category for their performance in the last month. These will be permanently displayed. The categories will be chosen by management, as they'll need me most probably to make some imagery for it. It's something we can display on the front page with new member promotions.

The award pips are temporary. Someone was working on some for me. It's on my list to revisit before release.
