Removing un-needed mods

Hi all.

So I've just finished my install of my new GPU and SSD and my computer now runs faster than shit off a shovel. I would like to keep it that way. I've set my OS, Steam and Arma 3 install to run from the SSD (and it's beautiful!) while I've set my other programs and what not to run from my hard drive, including A3sync and my Arma mods. 

In order to keep my machine running like greased lightning, is it possible to get A3Sync to automatically delete mods when they are no longer present in one of our repos? If so - WHAT DO???

And if you've got any other suggestions for keeping my fresh install in condition 1 that would be sweet as well!

Yes, you can set your folder to only have the mods that are currently in our repo and nothing else.
If you do this, I advise against using your \documents\arma 3 as mods folder though, as it will delete your profile files and all the missions in your missions folder.

To enable this, I think you have to tick something called "exact match" in your repo, so Operations and Trainings for example. This will also delete all the mods from other repos though, so you'd have to install optionals in a different folder.

Would you recommend I install my mod repos into different folders then? Wouldn't this create duplicates of the mods? The whole set for operations, public, maps and optionals is 90GB already at least!

I've got my A3 install on my SSD including my profiles and such, its just the mods and A3Sync on my HDD.

IIRC public only has mods that are in ops and training, but that might change with the inclusion of the EOD mod, I don't know. Optional and maps don't have anything in common with ops and trainings, so I suggest you make a folder on your SSD called "A3 mods" or something and make a folder for general (ops, trainings, public), maps, and optionals. You install the repos to their respective folders and use exact match to keep those folders tiny, except for the public repo, don't use exact match on that or it would delete all the non-public operations mods.

Yes, there would be duplicates for Operations and Public mods, quite sizeable too.

Operations & Trainings repo is no longer public compatible. The public repo includes @prkz & @mad_resh, which isn't in the operations repo.

Hmmm. Any idea on what the best way to organise this would be then? I can't imagine it would be just me who wants to set things up in this manner, it could be quite useful for the wider community.

On a side note, the images on the installation guide aren't linked up correctly, I think the IMG markups still point to the old .co.uk site. Obviously it won't be a problem in the future () but its worth addressing now in my opinion.

roberto !!!!! mate this seems long lol , just download the repo's on your super fresh computer and just go through the mod folders every now n then to see if we still use x mod....

i have found the repo's are usually ok for that tho as we usually find out what we removing from forum n stuff, just just delete after off pc to save them vital minerals

The Operations & Trainings repo is compatible with the public server. You simply select the additional maps from the maps repo, or just launch the whole maps repo.

It's not nothing I got to worry about right now fam, but later when we rolling HAM in that mastiff goodness through afghan poppin skulls and takin no names whilst blasting my phat mixtape, I don't want no message saying 'Sup dude, I'm full and you got shit you don't use on here but I'mma crash anyway trollolololol' 

Plus why do something myself when I can get a computer to do it for me?

I've got the repos all installed now anyway so I'm solid on that front, but I'm getting hot on that optimisation tho.

This. I'm not particularly worried about me, but what about some tech-savvy guys that want to get involved on the public first (#MakeThePublicGreatAgain) and get things set up like this too?

Plus, I'm one of those psychos that like to only run what's necessary at any one time, so if we're rocking the public server, I don't really have any need to have (for example) the Burnes' challenger loading with Arma as well if I'm not going to use it.
