[Dicussion] Domination Chinook

Hey guys,

was trying out a few different AFM models today and one of them was the Chinook (the CH-47 variant so not the british one as the british HC2 doesn't use the advanced flight model. and there is as far as I could find no difference between the American and British one).

I fell in love with it and was wondering why we don't use it on the public server in the Domination game mode.
This would mean the wildcat will be replaced of course.
Why?
Because on the public I personally feel like the whole goal of the helicopters is to transport troops.
The capacity of the chinook is way higher than that of the wildcat in which you can barely fit a squad.
The air support the wildcat provides is rarely used anyway and with the A-10 coming on the public server soon kind of makes it obsolete.
Also the wildcat is predominantly used by the navy for it's ship landing capabilities which is less advisable with a chinook.

would love to hear you guys' opinion on this matter.

all in favour say AYE,

Db

I think this would be great, if it supports sling loading that could be a good way of getting a large amount of infantry and their vehicle such as a M113 to the AO quickly.

What mod was this Chinook from, the main reason I say this is the RHS one has a bad habit of blowing up and breaking its tail rotor hence why we haven't used it in the past.

it was the RHS one yeah, but I haven't had that problem yet.
If that's what is keeping us I'll try to find out if it's still a problem and if it is I'll keep an eye out for a mod that does work.

If you want to be realistic I believe Chinooks were never designed to transport troops into combat due to their significant size and consequently lack of maneuverability making it very vulnerable to all sorts of fire. But I would be up for adding the Chinook into insurgency as that is an element in which it is used often today due to the difference in the type of warfare.

@Twiggy, I think you may be right but then again you're only really dropping them off outside of a perfectly round AO which is the only place with enemies on the whole map, which already is quite unrealistic in itself....
I would love to see it in insurgency as well but not on stratis as the map is too small for that in my opinion to use it's full potential. I would like to see it in the future on a bigger map or if we ever get to see takistan again.

I've tried out a couple of mods and to be honest the only one I like is the RHS one because of the advanced flight model. I haven't yet experienced the problems will was talking about.

I also tried the chinook pack and liked some features of it, you can actually open the crew door, lower the ramp, fold the benches and put down stretchers on which you can actually lie down and I reckon put casualties on if they are unconscious (thank god for ace).
However the chinook pack doesn't have the Advanced flight model so it feels kind of cheap to me in that sense. Other than that I haven't found any mods who can match this yet.
