These changes will be put into effect on Sunday, including the revocation as to not affect the current role sheet. You will need any required associated qualifications for their role next week. Please arrange a training session before next Saturday if you do not have the qualification or your role will be made available for someone else.

Two New Additions
There are going to be two new courses available.

Indirect Fire, a course that will cover the requesting and fulfilling of an artillery request. This course will feature familiarisation with the radio communications, 60mm platoon mortar, the 81mm and the L118 field artillery piece (soon™).

This course will be required to take the roles of: Forward Observation Officer, Platoon Mortar, Mortar Gunner and some more in the future. You'll be notified of these requirements in the "What Training Do I Need?" thread.

Heavy Weapons Familiarisation, a course that will cover all the various equipment that the FST utilises, not covered by other courses. A brief summary: the static deployment of the HMG & GMG as well as using them, Milan operated off the back of a land rover & Javelin anti-tank system, anti-air capability with the Stinger & the dreaded lovely Blowpipe, as well as getting acquainted with the vehicles the FST operate such as the Jackal. It's going to be an explosive course, for sure.

This course will be required to take the roles of any fire-support team role not already covered by other qualifications. For example; anti-tank, anti-air etc. You'll be notified of these requirements in the "What Training Do I Need?" thread.

Say Goodbye
We also say farewell to a couple of courses, as they head off to the retirement home. Hopefully they don't turn up in some Tesco Brand Lasagne next summer.

Crew Served Weapons & AA Team will be removed as HWF and Indirect Fire will cover their material and some more. No one will be awarded the new qualifications due to the substantial change in course content.

Pre-85 Infantry Familiarisation, the most short lived course ever. It's been scrapped in favour of covering the technical aspects within Basic Infantry. Hopefully this means moving forward everyone who does the introductory course will have an understanding of Basic Infantry regardless of era.

Papa's Got Some New Clothes
Some courses have gone under some or major adjustment recently. Some of these are substantial enough to require resitting.

Platoon Command is ready to be taught. Some have already run through the new course, featuring a wide array of topics such as; how to do an effective brief, tips on deciphering information and reading the situation, a primer on platoon level tactics and best use-cases for all of them, platoon formations, planning considerations, force type challenges and combined arms considerations as well as more. As this is a substantial change from the previous course, those who have not sat the new course will need to do so in order to obtain the qualification.

Fixed Wing (Multiple Roles) Pilot
is the amalgamation of the Fixed Wing Ground Attack Pilot and Fixed Wing Utility Pilot. This is because currently there is no situation where you will be Fixed Wing Utility Pilot without being a Fixed Wing Ground Attack Pilot. This course will hopefully familiarise yourself with the systems of the Hercules, Harrier and Tornado plus some potential others in the future. If you do not have both qualifications by Sunday, you will need to sit the combined course in order to obtain the qualification.

Forward Air Controller
is the renaming of the Forward Observer qualification. This course focuses purely on the FAC role within an operation, as the Forward Observer communications will be taught as part of the Indirect Fire course. Everyone will have this qualification revoked, however if you're confident in your FAC capability you can sit a test with a trainer to obtain it back quickly.

Sniper Team
course has been redone. This covers some new techniques not previously covered as well as some alternative equipment and as such everyone will be required to sit the new course in order to obtain the qualification. There's also plans to further expand the era compatibility of this attachment, and will be reflected as such in the course.

This is part of an ongoing process to bring the courses up to snuff. There are likely to be more changes in the future, to provide a more baseline expectation of individuals performance and understanding within operations. A forewarning, I have my eyes fixated next on Section Commanders.

Order 66 has been executed. Awards themselves have been removed, and as mentioned some qualifications have been revoked. Please PM either myself or the trainer responsible for the course to arrange for a session if you're unable to make it on Wednesdays.
