Ever wondered how hard the Russians have it in our missions? Enjoy totally legal incursions into rightfully owned territories with the new public server gamemode, Annexation. Play as Russian air and land forces with a wide range of motorised, mechanised, airborne and armoured options available, using combined arms doctrine and rush tactics to take on Polish, British, German and American garrisoned forces.
From an objectives perspective Annexation is identical to Domination with its 3 AO’s to clear, but several core changes to the AI and surrounding infrastructure were required to reflect the different tactics and doctrines of each side which necessitated a new gamemode. You can expect Jackals, Humvees, and Abrams tanks to stand against you as well as Venoms, Wildcats and Chinooks with Apache escorts to act from above.
But wait, there’s more! PVP has a large presence in Annexation, with players being able to take slots in a british section opposing the Russian advance. The current ratio is 1 western player for every 5 eastern players, with no restriction on who is allowed to take the aggressor roles. British players will have to rely on long range harassment mixed with short range ambush tactics and mines in order to stagnate the advance, whereas Russian forces will have everything from GAZ Tigr’s armed with AGS-30’s up to BMD-4 IFV’s and KA-50/KA-52 attack helicopters to push through defences.
We have had a few tests of this mission already on the server with great results, and I’m hoping that Annexation will provide players with a modern era gamemode that isn’t heavily reliant on optics, with a readily available option for players to take BLUFOR roles even when the server is only moderately populated.
