We have a temporary fix in for AI being killed when you try to heal them. It was an old forgotten system that turned murderous at some point.

Switched to a different spawn system, using parts from the legacy insurgency system. You will now get a black screen if you’re trying to take a slot that can’t be used at that playercount. This means I can take away the sniper’s restrictions to stop them getting into vehicles and getting ammo.

Here’s the numbers:

Sniper team needs 8

FST needs 5 (otherwise, who are you supporting?)

Heli pilot needs 3

Heli crew chief needs 8

Jet pilot needs 10

On top of this, Sniper teams now need both members online to function. All this is done to facilitate the main sections and a single heli for respawns at lower playercounts and stop the initial fragmentation that causes confusion later in the evening.

If it’s a playercount restriction then you can spawn at the correct playercount and you’ll still be fine when the playercount drops. If you’re in a sniper team however and your spotter quits, you will be rendered blind to prevent abuse.

I’ve been looking at the town spawning system after having a delayed double spawn recently. I have a pretty solid fix in now so let me know if you see spawns while in a town.

I’m doing another trial of armour in modern. In 2000 we already have a solid solution to this with the M2 Stryker, but the bradley and warrior have rather bonkers weapons systems and the crews tended to just run off and do their own thing, so I had to remove it because it was hurting the gameplay. Now however, we have an active test of a new solution. The vehicle in question is the Scimitar, and for the moment it can be accessed freely by the armour crew. This will be modified later on to a proper player count restriction, but right now I want to see how effective and appealing it is to players. The Scimitar has a great armament with a slow rate of fire and decently long reload time, and, while it can shrug off an OG7 with relative ease, a PG7VL will kill it in one hit so players can’t get cocky with it.

The armour crew, like the sniper team, can only function when everyone in the crew is ingame. Otherwise, you’re stuck staring at a black screen. I have to give a massive thanks to freez, frosty and smurf for helping me test this tonight, there were some weird bugs that I couldn’t test for in a singleplayer environment and they really helped out a lot.

On the subject of the scimitar, do we have a SLAT version? That would mean they would have some light protection from RPG's and would also open up adding proper AT OPFOR on the public on a similar basis to the aa team spawning when there is an apache etc

On that basis then, can we edit the armour of the scimitar to be a little more durable?

I agree, and am pretty sure the cage is more cosmetic on the current version, but probably best to talk to rik about that one chaz, its not exactly part of the public server remit
