Attempts to work around the various ace bugs continue. Currently I have a system that I can spend 20-30 minutes after every server restart loading the game and then loading a preset into the server manually, which works and fixes many of the issues (like bandaging not fixing limps, radios sometimes being temperamental and gear not saving on respawn) but I don’t always have that kind of time.
I made a new situation for insurgency, Recovery. A blufor vehicle is damaged and abandoned in the AO somewhere, and you need to get it back by any means necessary. The objective will complete automatically when the vehicle is within 100m of the base marker for a minute, and you’ll recognise it because the vehicle will disappear like with the VIP. Maybe if BI ever fixes their AI pathfinding I’ll be able to rely on AI to use a more immersive solution to this, but since that’s unlikely this will have to do.
The vehicle will be randomly damaged, so it could be anything from a slightly wonky wheel to no engine, fuel tank and flipped. How you deal with that is up to you, as long as it gets back to base you complete the objective. If you can’t figure out a way to get it back to base then destroying the vehicle and denying it to the enemy is only a minor loss in points. There’s a few different ways of doing this so it will be interesting to see how people work it out.
In other news, ANA RPG gunners now have access to the PG7VL anti tank rocket in the ammobox and the repair vehicle now resupplies vehicles as well, provided they’re not 3cb. In future I might add functionality to 3cb vehicles as well, but it’s an utter ballache to do so it will take a while.
