New attachment restriction system

There are no longer any player count restrictions on specific attachments. In this new method, you get the first attachment at 6 people and then it’s every 9 people after that. The numbers will be tuned over time as we test with higher numbers, and once there are more than 23 people online the system switches off entirely, allowing full access to all attachments. Like with the other systems this will premiere on insurgency first and then migrate to domination after testing. The full crew restrictions are still active, so you need to have a full sniper team or armour crew to use those particular roles.

This means that the variety of attachments is the same as ever, but it cuts down heavily on playerbase fragmentation and bulks up the usage of the main sections. It’s a drastic change and it will take a bit of getting used to, but in time it should be hugely beneficial to the gameplay.

As it appears I have deleted Jazza's post while trying to scroll on my phone, I'll recite it to the best of my ability and answer that. Jazza please correct me if I got it wrong

Jazza: Do heli pilots count as attachments?

Answer: Yes, they are classed as attachments and subject to the same system. I had a bit of an internal struggle with that considering how useful they are, but we proved tonight and have proven several times before that we can get through the evening without dying and needing a respawn taxi if we're not dumb about it, and we use helis as a crutch too much anyway.

I dont think that the pilots should count as attachments. I think a restriction that runs in parralel is much more suitable. One reason is that if an infantry group go online and a sniper team at the same time, that then means they cant get any heli support, which is mission-killing often on big maps such as Reshman. Another example would be being able to have a CAS Aircraft (Ugly, Wildcat, Hind or Fast Air) but no FAC?

I think the solution would be to have a concurrent limit with adjusted levels. One for Heli's, One for attachments.

First heli at X players, then X+4, then +8 for example
First attachment at X+2, then +4 then +6 then +8

or something to that effect. Having a heli online is really critical to the enjoyment of public server time as well as retention. A common reason people d/c is that the die and CBA to get out to their squad again, unless they are close to a patrol base. They are also important for CASEVAC and Resupplys With the above system, there is no circumstance where a heli could block an attachment, but heli's and attachments are still "limited" overall.

It will change if testing shows it to be necessary
