Insurgency

New situation: minefield clearance. Leftover landmines from previous conflicts are a big problem in wartorn regions, and their disposal is usually left to private contractors, which is to say it’s usually not done unless it profits someone. Now minefields will be reported like HVT’s, VIP’s and the other situations, and you can defuse them with a defuse kit just like the insurgent placed IED’s. Defusing each mine gives points, and there’s a small bonus for removing half of a minefield (note: this particular requirement doesn’t require defusal, use your imagination). A minefield can consist of anywhere between 20 and 60 mines over a 70-100m square area. This sounds like a lot of mines for a small area, but testing showed that this was a good density. The types of mines vary, and there are AP as well as AT mines. Each field only consists of one type of mine. Vallons are available to pointmen and breachers in the ammobox and defusal kits are available to everyone. Enemy patrols will also snoop around occasionally to keep things lively.

Sahrani has its new enemies. Modelled on FARC rebels, these are paramilitary forces that rely on drugs to go out and weapons to come in. A bit of research into FARC showed a rather interesting preference for magpul and rails when money allows (bit ironic for a group of diehard communists), so there’s a little bit of gucci sprinkled in among the plethora of AK’s.

90’s missions now use voice files for the base calls, created by yours truly getting on a fancy mic and screaming his head off. There's a stand to shout for incoming infantry, an all clear shout and an incoming shout for mortars. There's actually 2 incoming files just to have a little variance, the game picks randomly between them. Here's a video showing the calls:

New upcoming event: Op APEX

Tanoa is coming to public for a one-off insurgency night featuring modern forces fighting FARC rebels. While making the rebels I saw the striking resemblance between farcs battlegrounds and our apex map, so I whipped up a full size insurgency mission operating out of a foothold on a beachhead. The vehicle composition is 3 jackals, 3 landys and 3 boats. The event will be held next Friday as I'm busy this coming one. Past apex ops have shown that a large majority of twc has apex, so this will be a feeler to see if it's feasible for public as well.
