The campaign run of reshmaan is going really well, and we’ve had solid numbers both nights so far with tons of action and teamwork. We had a moment last night where a section was lobbing mortars and 2 GMG’s over a ridgeline while a forward observer with an american team calls back directions, while also calling in airstrikes from the wildcat and warthog overhead. Strongholds are a thing of beauty.

While the campaign runs, I’ve been working on some other basic elements that will come in when the mission concludes. The Interpreter will receive some UCP body armour and the ability to pick up a rifle from the main ammo box. Again, the interpreter is meant to be unarmed, but if you really can’t live without a weapon then there you go. You can also get a PRC343 from here, so if you’re working with a british section then drop your 148 and take that instead. Don’t drop the 152, that’s the fancy one.

I’ve also been locking in the interpreter signal intelligence functionality, we tested it tonight and it worked perfectly. It’s super useful for staying one step ahead of the enemy, which is a rare ability on public.

On the C-RAM, the big gatling gun on Reshmaan that’s supposed to shoot down incoming rockets, artillery and mortars: I put a few hours into it but the basic scripts that make a unit look somewhere simply don’t work with the C-RAM 90% of the time. This means that, while it will work sometimes, most of the time it will just rake the base with explosives. It will now go back in the code shed until BI or CUP sorts it out.

I’ve also increased the HVT runaway timer from 1 hour to 10 hours, and changed the way minefields assign points. Taking 2 or 3 mines gives you a small set of points, clearing half gets you the big points and then after that you’re done. There’s no point making you clear more than that, you’d be searching for days.

Next up will hopefully be a small fix to the interpreter stronghold estimation, currently it detects all enemies in the area, alive or dead. We had taken out about 30 of them tonight with our indirect fire battery and there were maybe 10-15 left, but the terp got intel that there were 40-70 in there as we moved in.

I also had a look at the results of the previous poll on PVP, I overestimated how much people were interested in it and I’m glad I learned this before wasting too much time. The mini event will go ahead as planned on friday, but further efforts will be put on a lower priority.
