Bose and Rik have done some work on the vehicle slot restriction system, to implement an additional failsafe check for problematic vehicles where the gun/FFV slots are the same as the copilot. Thanks to this, all the helicopters now have correct slot restrictions, and the infantry can man the door guns/FFV seats/rear guns as they should. This is currently only on insurgency, I’ll be migrating it to domination before next week.
I’ve put in a potential workaround for the game occasionally locking you into the map screen when you join the server. This is an arma bug with their respawn system so unfortunately a fix isn’t on the cards, but stay in the server for a minute when it locks you into the map and hopefully it should fix itself. If it doesn’t fix it after 2 minutes, rejoin as usual and let me know that it didn’t work, either on the forum or by TS poke.
I’ve changed the regular town spawn system a little more, you won’t see the enemies spawn in the center of the town and then get teleported away anymore. Instead they will spawn many miles away in one go then teleport into their houses, then they run code to change their position manually every so often. This worked extremely well in testing on wednesday, just patrolling through towns is really neat as the enemy is constantly moving and flanking.
I’ve also added in a new ambush system for IED’s when they go off, which looks at sensible locations that an attack could come from and then goes from there. This is quite similar to the IED attack system in old insurgency.
Interpreters can now go up to a dead HVT and ACE interact on them to get the radio channel that the enemy is using. I’ve been trying to do this the more natural way of putting an actual radio on him and setting the channel to the enemy channel, but ACRE’s backend isn’t working out for me here. If it gets fixed, I’ll do it that way.
I also noticed that helis were setting off IED’s at an odd altitude, so I had a look and realised that the altitude check was only working on the IED’s that spawned off-road. Fixed now, IED’s will not detonate on helis unless they are low enough
