Operation THURSTON
World War 2 Dismounted

Era: Late World War 2
Forcetype: Dismounted
Attachment: Recon Team

Operation Start: 15. January 1945
Current Weather: Clear
Map: Ni'Zwasogo

Conflict Overview:
Three years ago, the Imperial Japanese Army, after subduing the government of the Kingdom of Thailand, invaded Burma, the bread basket of Britis possesions on the Subcontinent. Two years ago they managed to incurse into the Crown Jewel  of the British Empire itself: India. With allied forces driven off Europe, the germans making steady advances in Russia and the Americans and Dutch loosing one island after another to the Empire of the Rising Sun, the war seemed to be turning against us.

However since then the Germans have been beaten back by the russians and all but expelled from Africa. The Americans have joined our war effort and together we have invaded Hitlers Fortress Europe in Italy and France. The free people of the world are marching together to victory. The Imperial Japanese Navy has been proven no match for the fleets of the Royal Navy, United States Navy and the Koninklijke Marine. They have long but lost navaly supremacy in Indonesia and the Pacific and our successes have severly hampered Japanese supply lines to Burma.

Together with the rest of the nations of the Commonwealth and Chiang Kai-sheks Chinese Forces, we have taken the offensive and driven the Japanese off India and freed up our vital supply line to our valliant Chinese allies: The Burma Road. The Japanese may have once bested us in terms of experience on the terrain but by now we have become accostumed to Burmas jungles. Furthermore the Japanese have always been ill-equipped and are now also running out of supplies, but like a cornered Animal, their desperation has all the more fierce.
Recent Events:
The Japanese defence in this region is fierce but so far our advance has been steady. The fighting is characterised by the fierce guerilla type fighting in the jungle. Frankly speaking the Japanese troops have shown themselfs masters of evading our forces in the dense underbrush of Burma. As such we have resorted to focus on taking and holding key positions, secure our supply lines and cut off theirs.

However the Japanese troops have lost nothing of their aggressiveness and regulary conduct charges on our positions, however pointless it may be. One of these attacks seems to have occured at a nearby outpost, located on a strategic cross road. Your orders are to assist the attacked forces.

After you have donw so, proceed to the pass and take it. This is the only route in the nearby region that crosses the central massive that stretches itself to the shore and is therefore an immensely important supply route. To further secure it you are then to proceed to it's first intersection, secure and hold it against counterattacks.
- Check in with the recently attacked Outpost and assist them if need be.
- Take the Japanese-held pass.
- Advance past the pass and hold the crossroads.
