Cao BangConflict Overview:
After a short Japanese occupation and a brutal war against the French imperialists, the people of Vietnam seemed to have finally achieved independence. However with Ho Chi Minhs communists gaining more power internally, the country was devided into a dictatorial, capitalists regime in the south and a communist regime in the north. In the continuing struggle between the two Superpowers USSR and USA, Vietnam has become a proxy war.
It has been 2 years since the Paris Peace accord was signed, effectivly 'Vietnamizing' the war for the US, meaning that we chased them out of our country tails behind their legs. It confirmed the border between the two Vietnams. Now the only thing that stands in the way of a truly free, socialist and democratic Vietnam is the so called 'Republic of Vietnam'.
December last year, the People's Republic of Vietnam has resumed the liberation of our country, bend on driving out Nguyễn Văn Thiệu's Regime and finally uniting our country. We have made advances ever since. However, the ARVN is well equipped with what the US has left them and they know that our reprisal against their treachery to the nation of Vietnam will be brutal and Nguyễn is still awaiting $300 Million in Aid from the US. This battle for our people's freedom is not yet won.Recent Events:
We have driven the ARVN from the Highland toward the cost for the last 4 weeks. We have now reached a strategic position: Where the Cao Bang lake flows into the Sea. It is easy for the ARVN to hold this Delta with it's many bridges and choke points. Our highly skilled and well equipped company has been called in as a shock troop to break through ARVN defenses and clear a way for the rest of the division to follow up.
After fierce fighting this morning and with help from local guerillas, our infantry companies have captured the village of Tam Kim, which will be our forward resupply base for this Operation.
We are to further advance along Provincial Route No. 32 until Lang-Tra and then move along Provincial Route No. 36 to finally arrive at bridge south of Xuan Bai. We are to secure all bridges and possible choke points along this route. Objectives:
Situation Army of the Repblic of Vietnam
- Secure the Pre-Littoral Ridge: The road towards the south runs through the ridge before the riverbed, we have to take it to further advance.
- Secure the Northern Rivercrossings: The river running from the Cao Bang lake to the sea are crossed by Provincial Route No. 32. We have intel that only the northern and southernmost crossings are defended.
- Secure Lang Tra: Located on the intersection of Provincial Routes No. 32 and No.36, Lang Tra is a key position for our advance south of the river.
- Secure Huang Bai Bridge: The bridge south of Huang Bai is the last bridge across the Cao Bang Delta. Once it's secure we're one step closer to Saigon!
