The British ARmy so far had three major combat operations in the South Zagoria region of Chernarus: Operation STENWICK, RAUND and ESCOMB which managed to not only prevent a collapse of the CDF Forces in the area but also pushed back ČDKZ insurgents. In fact the situation of the situation seems to have been so dire for the ČDKZ that a tank batallion has recently reinforced their ranks near the airfield which locked the British armoured forces there in a stalemate with neither side willing to risk their armour by attacking the enemies position.Recent Events:
Operation ESCOMB was the British reaction to a ČDKZ advance through the UN Safe Zone around Stary and Novy Sobor. While the attack itself was repulsed the ČDKZ forces have effectivly taken control of the UN Safe Zone. The commander of the UN forces as (we suspect under threat) assured us that his personal, as well as any civilians in the area are safe, but only as long as NATO and CDF forces stay outside of the area north east of the Guglovo-Pop Ivan-Veresnik Line. He has also allowed no further shipments of humanitarian goods into the UN Safe Zone, which so far served as a safe haven for refugees and wounded civilians. This has led us to believe that the ČDKZ are not keen on resolving this situation but merely try to pressure the UN into a unilateral ceasefire agreement to build up and reinforce their own position.
As of two days ago however, spies on the ČDKZ side as well as CDF scouts have noticed the paramilitary group 'Russkiye Barsy' moving towards the former UN Safe Zone. This group, officially made up from volunteers, but effectivly mostly of convicts and criminals, is known for it's atrocities against non-ethnic Russian soldiers, PoWs and civilians and has huge influence within the ČDKZ high command. Inside sources tell that they are pushing for a further escalation of the war, hoping for a Russian intervention on their behalf. As such command has been pressed into resolving what the press calls the "Sobor-Crisis" to prevent such an escalation.
For this operation, we are to cooperate with a Chernarussian platoon and a UN company. While the UN is merely to reinforce it's position in the Sobors once we have established a safe preimeter, the CDF platoon is to push up parallel to us and secure Lesnoy Khrebet and Guglovo, while we secure Hill 391 in the so called 'Old Fields'. Command also hopes for this operation to further envelop the airfield to hopefully secure it in a later operation. Objectives:
- Expell ČDKZ forces from the towns of Stary and Novy Sobor. Be aware that the siuation here is highly complicated with UN personal, civilians and ČDKZ troops closely intermingled. Clearing the Refugee camp should take priotity, as we expect reprisals once the ČDKZ notice we did not adhere to their demands.
- Secure Hill 391 and the 'Old Fields' area (as outlined on the map).Situation ČDKZ
