Operation FLAXTON
By Saxon

Era: Cold War COIN.
Forcetype: Dismounted.

Operation Start: 05:20 24. March 1963
Current Weather: Overcast
Map: @cambodia

Conflict Overview:
SInce it's independence from the Dutch following the Second World War, Indonesia has been trying to consolidate all of the former Dutch East Indies. Most recently this has been the Dutch part of Papua which has been placed under UN administration awaiting a plebiscite, following repeated skirmishes between Indonesian and Dutch forces and the laters brutal treatment of the insurrectionists.
After a failed coup attempt in Brunei at the end of 1962 the Indonesian government has become opposed to the transfer of the British colonies in Northern Borneo to the independent Malaysian Federation and in January of this year, the Indonesian Foreign Minister has denounced Malaysia as a whole. Since the beginning of this year, Indonesian units and militias trained by them have been incursing into Malaysian territory on Borneo.

Recent Events:
Indonesian Militias have been incursing into this area for a couple of months now. they have used various jungle routes in the area but our scouts have reported that they almost always use the bridge in Phoum Srei Aphsok to cross the Tonle Teuktnaot river. We have further intelligence that todays group have been held up by oanother one of our operations and thus has not been able to cross said bridge during the night. We have been tasked with eliminating any enemy lookouts in the northern part of Phoum Srei Aphsok and hold the bridge against Indonesian militias trying to cross.

We have come under attack from section size patrols in the jungle around this area, especially when bigger groups have been on the move around Phoum Srei Aphsok, so we should be careful on the approach. By the time we arrive at the bridge on foot only marginal amounts of troops will have been able to cross, however we expect these to be called back in the case of our attackk. The majority of the enemy should still be north of the bridge by the time we get there. We expect about two sections worth of lookouts in Phoum Srei Aphsok as well as a about a company worth of militia crossing.

Secure and Hold the bridge in Phoum Srei Aphsok
