Conflict Overview:

In the Waziristan region on the Indian Frontier, Indian Army/British Empire forces have been fighting in a "on-off" campaign against the Wazir tribesmen in an attempt to assert control over the region. In 1936, trouble flared up in Waziristan in the form of a political and religious agitation by Mirzali Khan, a Pashtun Nationalist. For some time, there has been growing unrest in the region, fueled by a perception of a weakening of British resolve to govern following a number of constitutional changes in India; however, following a trial of a Muslim student on a charge of abducting a Hindu girl, Mirzali Khan began spreading anti-British sentiment in earnest, claiming that the government was interfering in a religious matter.

The Indian army have been making expeditions into the Wazir tribemen's territory to reassert the perception of control over the region. However recent failures of these expeditions has caused a reverse of the desired outcome, as, instead of demonstrating government resolve and strength, it had in fact highlighted their weakness and Mirzali Khan's support has risen dramatically.

Recent Events:

The most recent expedition resulted in disaster when the Indian Army forces were ambushed at the Sar-e Sang Pass. A considerable amount of Indian Army equipment was captured by the Wazir tribesmen including rifles, vehicles, and several machine guns. This most recent victory has emboldened them and raids on villages along the frontier have increased.

With war in Europe seeming inevitable, the British Empire cannot afford to be committing troops to fighting with these tribesmen. The TWC Platoon from the British Army has been deployed to the region to carry out an expedition to repel the raiders, cross over the Frontier into the Wazir tribemen's territory to re-assert British dominance and put down this insurrection once and for all.
