Conflict Overview:
In April 2021, President Joe Biden announced that U.S. military forces would leave Afghanistan by September 2021. The Taliban, which had continued to capture and contest territory across the country despite ongoing peace talks with the Afghan government, ramped up attacks on Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) bases and outposts and began to rapidly seize more territory. In May 2021, the U.S. military accelerated the pace of its troop withdrawal. For the past 6 weeks TWC Platoon had been training the ANDSF but know they will need to leave shortly.
 
OPFOR:
A mixture of local militia fighters and regular Taliban with AKs, RPGs and ZU-23 AA, but also, newly acquired HMMWV M2 and other US equipment and uniforms.
 
Recent Events:
With the current security situation deteriorating rapidly Platoon Command informed the Afghan troops that they would be leaving in a few days. Waking up early the following morning, Command find that the local Afghan troops have departed, and the town seems eerily quiet. Taliban forces have made massive gains overnight and captured FOB Obeh to the North East and radio chatter suggests they are intent on capturing FOB Dodge. Our base is surrounded and an attack is imminent.
It is too dangerous to evacuate by road and it is considered too hot an LZ to send in the Chinook you have no choice but either surrender or fight. Our air support (Apache) is currently undergoing repairs, but will be operational shortly to assist, if you decide to fight.
 
Intent:
Survive the attack on FOB Dodge and repatriate personnel and assests safely back to Landay Air Base

Objectives:
• Surrender to the Taliban and become political pawns or fight and defend the FOB
• Seize FOB Obeh
• Deliver any US assets at FOB Obeh back to Landay Air Base or destroy any that can’t be moved
• Assist in the evacuation of refugees back to Landay Air Base (details to follow)

Pilots:
Whilst the Apache is being repaired use the Chinook to assist in the evacuation back to Landay Air base of the following:
Exfiltrate personnel from the refinery at Akhunds Oilfield
Exfiltrate Afghan government minister and his staff at Bum
Exfiltrate Aid workers and journalist whose vehicle has broken down at Murabat
